I spent the weekend in the Hotel de Buci and had a great time. The location of the hotel is central to many attractions. I took the train from CDG airport and got off at the St. Michel station. It was a nice walk to the hotel. I could have transfered trains on the Metro and got off in two more stops but really enjoyed the walk. I headed south on Rue St. Michel and then turned right on Rue St. Germain and was there in a few minutes. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with flat screen tvs, robes and slippers, a bar downstairs were you can get a cocktail at anytime of day, and internet access through the hotel’s computer or hooking up your own. The staff remembers you by name and was very courteous. I had breakfast in bed every morning and it was great quality food. I highly recommend this hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Artus and since we used this site for information, I wanted to share our experiences there. All of the staff were friendly, professional, and approachable. Sanjay was wonderful. The evening staff were also helpful. We booked our room via Expedia for $245/night. I feel we got a good value for the price. After all, this IS Paris. Yes, the room (132) was clean, the bed was comfortable, the pillows perfect. The modern decor of the lobby and breakfast area was perfect. Breakfast downstairs was good if you didn’t want to face Paris too early. And at 15 euros each, it was comparable to what a decent breakfast would cost. The location is great, the St. Germain des Pres area is full of activity, and anything you could want is steps away. So I guess I would recommend this hotel. It IS an excellent value in a very expensive city. So, what are you waiting for ???

The location cannot be beat….So many cafes and restaurants to choose from….People everywhere throughout the day and night. The decor was nice and the bed was comfortable. Sanjay was wonderful as were the rest of the staff…they would help /do whatever you needed with a smile!!!!!!! The breakfast which was included for us, was very good and a great way to start the day!

Hotel staff was very informative and helpful and a metro station was very close. I expected a bit more from the hotel due to the price of the rooms, but overall it was a nice place to stay.
• 21 nov. 2007 : “Loved the Montana hotel”
I am happy I picked this hotel, the staff are just great they all speak English and are from multi cultural backgrounds. They are very friendly and helpful I never experienced one rud action. The buffet breakfast is more like a brunch/combo it has almost anything you would want set in a cozy breakfast room. We had room 37 which is two room 2 bath suite, great. We loved the birdcage elevator. The hotel is immaculate. The location is great central for a walk or metro ride anywhere, it is also very quiet and safe. I will only stay there next time.

Dear Grace, I’m sorry that it has taken me this long to write to you to thank you for the wonderful and delightful stay that I enjoyed at the Bourgogne et Montana. I also thought everyone on the staff was very, very nice, every one of them, and appreciated their assistance. Thank you for everything and most certainly the hotel will be recommended to any clients headed for Paris. I found the location perfect, and especially appreciated its central location! I am already longing to come back to what is, I do believe, my most favorite city in the world!

• A guest from New Jersey, USA - 13 juil. 2007 : “Best Hotel and staff ever”
This hotel is fabulous. It is very sophisticated and contemporary in style. The rooms are small but
very modern in design and extremely comfortable. The location is great and it is easy to get to all
the major sites and museums by foot, bus, or train. The staff made our visit exceptional. They were friendly, interested in our daily comings and goings, absolutely motivated to make our experience in Paris special. Sanjay and the entire staff became our friends away from home. We will stay there again on our next trip to Paris.
• A guest from Washington, DC, USA - 5 juil. 2007: “ erfect location and close to nutella-filled crepes too!”
I just returned yesterday from a 6 day trip to Paris with my girlfriends and we could not have been happier with the Hotel Artus. No review would be complete without acknowledging and thanking Sanjay for being the perfect host, travel guide and smiling face after returning from a long day of sightseeing (and shopping, boy did we do a lot of shopping). There were four of us total so we had 2 per room (Room 101 and 111). We were told that Room 101 was the largest in the hotel and it was very big compared to what one normally gets in Europe. The bed was comfortable with nice linens (though no top sheet which might just be European but sort of plays on my yuck factor) and the bathroom was huge.
The lobby is very modern with comfy couches and cool artwork.
You can’t beat the hotel for location as it’s super close to the metro but I must say we pretty much walked everywhere as the city is very walkable and you get to see more (especially when the gay pride parade is going on which I highly recommend for a unique Parisian experience - it rivals NYC and Washington DC for sure! Great fun!).
Anyway, I am pretty picky about my hotels and typically try to stay in 4/5 stars in the US and prefer hotels like the W, Ritz and Four Seasons (when I can get a good deal) and this hotel, while not Ritz-level, has the vibe of a W with the hospitality of a cozy bed and breakfast. It was so nice to be able to stop for drinks at the end of the day at Cafe Mabillon or Chai and just pop back into the room to change or drop off bags. There are plenty of great restaurants and we had an amazing pre-departure Italian meal at Del Papa which is only 2 doors from the Artus. Don’t miss the spaghetti bolognese or carbonara and frankly it’s a nice change from jambon and fromage! There is plenty of shopping right around the hotel and lots of art galleries for window shopping. We felt very very safe in the area and the cafes were hopping until 2am and on though we never heard much if any street noise.
We searched and searched in an attempt to find the right hotel in Paris and we did not go wrong with the Artus. It’s Fodor’s rated which made us feel a little more secure but trust us, you’ll be very happy here. Ask Sanjay about where to go, where to eat, or even for a car to get you back to the airport at 6am (that held lots of bags filled with sale month goodies!) and you will not be disappointed. He’s just the best as we can’t say enough good things about him. Try restaurant Entrecote and Cafe Visconti for dinner in the neighborhood too. There’s also great gelato right around the corner and a crepe stand. Did we mention the crepe stand?! I think my thighs now look like nutella-filled crepes after this trip but boy was it worth it. Bon voyage!

We loved the location, the room, the view of Rue de Buci. The decor was very French antique, but
also had a flat screen TV. There was access to the internet downstairs in the room adjacent to the breakfast room. BUT most of all the staff and manager Catherine Mollier were wonderful, very polite and helpful but also very friendly and warm. We would never consider staying anywhere else. This is truly the best experience we’ve ever had. Our daughter even got to try out her French, but the staff was also very accepting of our English speaking and they spoke many languages beautifully.
• A guest from Australia - 2 juil. 2007: “Fantastic hotel in a superb location”
stayed here recently for several nights. Wow. This hotel was fantastic in a superb location. The location of this hotel on the Rue de Buci in the heart of Saint Germain cannot be beaten. The hotel is quiet yet you step out the front door of the hotel and you are in the middle of all the action. There are cafes galore and fabulous restaurants within walking distance.
I requested a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the courtyard and it was extremely quiet - no noise at all and I slept like a baby. Staff at this hotel are incredibly helpful and wonderful.
There is a big Champion supermarket 10 metres from the hotel and a superb fruit stall selling top quality fruit right across the street.
I liked the Hotel Buci and would highly recommend it.
• A guest from Bostonian Abroad - 16 avr. 2007: “The Quintessential Paris Experience”
We booked this hotel quite by accident, thinking it another. What a great mistake! My first time in Paris and I couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay. Although the rooms are small. They are immaculate and cute. Bathrooms are modern. I stayed in 62 on the top floor over looking the street. FABULOUS! With a window balcony and view of NotreDame and the bustling street life below. I will do many paintings from views snapped from this room. Also the sound proofing blocked out the street and there was never noise from ajoining rooms. The location was amazing. Close to Cafes, shops Poulin Bakery (a MUST) and sidewalk cafes were open late so you never feel rushed. Metro a very easy few minutes walk away. The bilingual staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I will most certainly stay there on my next visit.

• A guest from berkshire - 29 août 2007: “friendly and professional”
we went to paris to stay for the night and to eat at Alcazar (terence conran designed restaurant, that incidently is fab), the maitre d suggested the Madison and called and booked us a room from the restaurant when we booked our meal.
We went straight round, staff were very welcoming and helpful about things to do, and we felt very comfortable.
Room was lovely clean, and nicely decorated, bathroom large and really loved the tiled floor, and the little lift was very cute too.
Breakfast included in the price and was good. Wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. Great location for all our wanderings in paris, and wonderful array of cafes nearby, with Alcazar restaurant being a 5 mins walk away.
• A guest from atlanta, USA - 7 juil. 2007: “wonderful”
My wife and I had stayed at the Madison Hotel briefly in 2004 and were looking forward to our return. The hotel staff was incredibly upbeat and friendly upon our arrival and check-in was a breeze. We stayed on the 7th floor facing the front of the hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Looking out the balcony size window we could look left and see the Eiffel Tower and Dome Church, to the front right was Notre Dame and straight ahead was the St Germain Church. Wow. We just couldn’t get enough of the view. I cannot think of a better location in Paris. We walked to the Louvre several times. An excellent Italian restaurant is next door, famous cafe’s and brasseries one block away a grocery and pharmacy all right there. The Metro station is a stone throw away and also a stop for the Bus line and the Open Bus Tour. The breakfast buffet was excellent every morning with all the attributes of Continental and Full English. Our stay was everything that we could have hoped for and highly recommend the Hotel Madison.

• A guest from Kansas City, USA - 26 août 2007 : “Great Location - Intimate - Good Breakfast”
Located in one of the poshest residential neighborhoods in Paris, this small hotel is within walking distance of most of the major shopping and sights. Located on a small plaza behind the Assemblie National, the hotel was comfortable. I recommend, however, getting a junior suite (the best price for the best sized
room of many hotels we looked at). And, get one that faces the plaza. Our bedroom was cool and comfortable with dual basins, one bathtub, hand held shower (the “douche”), and a king sized bed. The breakfast, which lasts until 10, was very ample with most anything you need to get your motor fueled for a day of walking.
• A guest from San Francisco 26 juin 2007 : “A little gem of a hotel”
This was my third stay at the hotel over a period of about 6 years.
Reviewers are right about the elevator, but that’s part of the charm. It looks like a giant birdcage. But we’ve always had a porter available to take up our luggage separately.
The rates are excellent for a hotel of this quality, and the staff is welcoming and speaks English.
The breakfast room is charming.
There is a fabulous restaurant, Tante Margerite, right next door.
And the pastry shop across the street also has great salads and sandwiches to go, or to eat in their restaurant upstairs
Guest comments for Terrass Hotel :
• 21 août 2007 : “Amazing!”
I stayed here with my girlfriend (who I would be proposing to on this trip)
After months of research and very careful planning, our trip was almost disrupted due to high
security problems at Heathrow airport last year. We were extremely lucky to have even flown out.
Due to the problems at Heathrow we did not receive our luggage and all we had were our passports
and our cash cards. That was all!!
The Terrass was so helpful managing to provide us with t-shirts, toothbrushes, cleaning products etc. If this wasn’t enough they even upgraded us to a junior suit (if memory serves me correctly it was room 704). The room was exactly as I imagined it to be, if not better. It was clean, neat and very spacious with a clear and uninterrupted view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. The bathroom was very large and well kept.
The location is perfect. Tucked away in the traditional French streets, surrounded by cafes and small shops, although busy it becomes quiet towards the evening so do not worry. By foot you could reach all the main streets leading to the main attractions this should take around 20 minutes.
Do not miss the Moulin Rouge. It’s an amazing show and a must on any trip to Paris. Again the Terrass helped by booking the tickets. Due to the smart dress code we needed to buy clothes at short notice. The Terrass couldn’t have been kinder by drawing a detailed map to all the local shops were we could get as dressed up as possible.
All in all this is a wonderful hotel which I cannot wait to visit again. A must if you are to stay in Paris.
& if you’re wondering she did say yes!
• A guest from Southampton 3 août 2007: “Wow!”
We stayed for 3 nights as a part of our honeymoon in Paris. Wow! The junior suite was amazing! The rooms were clean and massive for french standards. I will be coming back here every year.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Go, book it now. Book the Junior Suite - don’t bother with inclusive breakfast - go to the local supermarket and take your breakfast on the balcony.
If you want to stay in Paris, stay here.
