From 4 to 19 October 2008
The unmissable motor show opens to the general public at the beginning of October at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. International car brands and manufacturers will present their range of vehicles, previews of their latest models as well as their latest prototypes. This year, the show features the cars of the future: concept cars, hybrid cars, bio-fuels and electric cars.
Car fanatics will once again find the usual areas devoted to commercial vehicles and second-hand vehicles, as well as a variety of activities (beginners’ outdoor 4-wheel drive racetrack, indoor electric karting track).
Two new attractions mark this year’s edition of the « Mondial de l’Automobile »: « Pôle Prestige » will showcase a dozen of the most luxurious brands in the automotive sector, while « Taxis du Monde » will trace the history and development of taxis from around the world.

A new major exhibition at the Musée du Luxembourg from October 2008.

More than seventy items from this collection of 862 works will be on show at the Musée du Luxembourg and will be presented around four themes: surrealism (Miró, Dali, Ernst, Breton…), abstraction from 1910 to the immediate post-war (Mondrian, Tanguy, Arp…), the confrontation Europe-US of the 1960s with new realism and Pop Art (Warhol, Klein, Soulages, Mitchell…) and creation post-1970 (Schnabel, Stella…).
Don’t miss this exhibition with works from the Lisbon museum of modern art, which like the collection bears the name of the wealthy Portuguese entrepreneur José Berardo.

Exhibitions, shows, screenings, meetings, concerts…are all part of the line-up for this 7th edition of the Week of Foreign Cultures of the Ficep in Paris. From 22 to 28 September 2008, numerous places in the capital will be participating in an intercultural dialogue around the theme “The other voyage — At the crossroads of Europe and the World”.
Each year, the Week of Foreign Cultures— now a reference in terms of its contribution to encouraging cultural exchanges— provides 80 events most of which take place in foreign cultural centres and institutes.
Among others: the exhibition « Paradise lost » at the Institut Hongrois (6th); a screening of « Macbeth» by Welles and Kurosawa at the Maison de la Culture du Japon (15th); the exhibition « Alechinsky. Pavane pour Octavio Paz » at the Instituto de México (3rd)…
The Week of Foreign Cultures of the Ficep is also an introduction to more than 50 languages; a competition open to all, in order to follow the trail of Baudelaire in Paris in the « invitation au voyage »; and a closing concert on 28 September in the Bibliothèque Nationale.
