Stylist Karl Lagerfeld loves books. Proof: his personal a library contains some 300 000 volumes, scattered between his various residences in Paris, Biarritz and Monaco… So he had no problem laying out and organising the shelves in the bookshop he has opened just a stone’s throw from his hotel particulier at 51 rue de l’Université, where he lives when he is in the capital. This bookshop has a very unusual name: 7L. Hidden away between the Orsay museum and the boulevard Saint Germain, it contains a combination of beautiful and rare books, with 400 art books, photos and exhibition catalogues, in French, English and German delivered every month.
In addition to Lagerfeld’s photographic creations, the bookshop displays 7 new collections each week, as well as outstanding art books. Also available are the best magazines of the moment and a specialised selection of CDs – all waiting to be explored in this unexpected store which is unique in the area.
