Do you dream of enjoying Paris on foot, by bike or on rollerblades without being bothered by the usual hordes of cars? Well it’s no longer just a dream, thanks to the “Paris Respire” operation that takes place on Sundays and public holidays all year round…
From the embankment expressways along the Seine in the 1st, 4th and 7th arrondissements, near the Bourgogne & Montana Hotel, the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin in the 10th, to the south of the Luxembourg gardens in the 6th (from end March to end November), the Daguerre district in the 14th or the Butte Montmartre in the 18th, a dozen areas of Parisparis-respire.jpg limit traffic to local residents, taxis and emergency vehicles only for the greatest pleasure of pedestrians, cyclists and skaters. Due to its resounding success, the initiative was extended this summer to the Bois de Vincennes in the 12th.
Description:
This initiative consists of closing certain roads to traffic all year round (with access for residents, taxis and emergency vehicles only), on Sundays and public holidays, to leave them free for strollers, cyclists and skaters. It concerns the Seine expressways (1st, 4th and 7th); the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin (10th); Butte Montmartre (18th) near the Terrass Hotel ; rue Mouffetard (5th); south of the Luxembourg gardens (6th) from end March to November; rue des Martyrs (9th); rue du Poteau (18th); the Daguerre district (14th); the Sentier district (2nd); the Roquette district (11th ) until 11 September; some roads in the Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne (12th and 16th).

All year long in most places of Paris.
