Marathon de Paris, be ready! 21 février 2008

Posted by webmaster in : News , trackback

Legend has it that in 490 B.C., the Greek war general Militade dispatched a messenger to Athens to inform his fellow citizens of his military victory at the ancient Greek town of Marathon. It is said that the messenger ran the 40-kilometre distance so fast that he died of exhaustion on arrival. The marathon was created in homage to this anonymous runner…
The marathon is an Olympic and universal sport, uniting runners across the barriers of age, sex and nationality each time a race is held.

The Marathon International de Paris, one of the world’s biggest marathons together with the New York City, London and Tokyo Marathons, inspires a frenzy every single year: no fewer than 30,000 people showed up at the starting line in 2007, cheered on by about 200,000 spectators. Journalists, dignitaries, sponsors and Parisians are all gearing up for the event, which is hugely popular.
The participants - whether serious contenders, Sunday joggers, keen runners or professional sportspersons - will get off to a start on the 42 km, 195 metre circuit through the capital on a beautiful spring morning and discover some of Paris’s loveliest sights.

If you’re ready for the challenge of the 2008 Marathon - April 6th 2008 -, hurry up and register: there are a limited number of places! And if you are looking for a hotel to stay and (to rest), you should book at Maurice Hurand Hotels.
